Drinking Water Safety Facts
Everyone should be concerned about drinking water safety. Although regulating agencies may say otherwise, a report from the University of Cincinnati showed that chemicals and other contaminants are flowing out of our drinking water faucets. You need a home purifier and here’s why.
To Avoid Contaminants
Regulating agencies try to insure the public’s drinking water safety. They just aren’t very good at it. Large-scale treatment facilities cannot remove:
Cysts, because they are resistant to chlorination and other disinfection methods. They are the size of a speck of dust, yet they cause gastrointestinal illnesses that can be deadly. Because they are so small, there is no way that a public facility can remove them. Chlorine, which is added to kill other illness causing germs, cannot be removed by facilities, as bacteria and algae would grow in the pipelines. Chlorine consumption causes digestive problems and anemia in children. It is a common allergen and toxic to the central nervous system. THMs are byproducts created by public disinfection methods. Exposure to these chemicals occurs when you drink straight from your drinking water faucets and when you shower or bathe without filtering first. Lead, because it seeps into the water from the pipelines, as it passes through them. There is no safe level of lead consumption.
To Avoid Buying Bottled
In a number of cases, the bottles contain exactly what is coming out of your drinking water faucets. Companies are not required to use additional purification methods and the cheaper brands don’t. Store brands, in particular, are known to contain chlorine and THMs. Some brands even contain cysts.
The bottles, although recyclable, are a major source of pollution. The industry is having a negative effect on the environment all around the world, making hen need for filtered water even greater, as they are taking millions of gallons of freshwater from our underground aquifers on an annual basis. It wouldn’t be so bad, if all of that water was used for drinking, but only about a third of it is actually used for that purpose. It takes more water to make that bottle than the bottle can hold.
To Save Money
Suppose you care nothing about the environmental issues and you buy an expensive brand that uses effective purification methods, you would save thousands of dollars per year by installing effective filters on your drinking water faucets. The store brands cost over a dollar per gallon. The expensive brands cost as much as $25 per gallon.
You can have excellent drinking water safety for less than a dime per gallon, as long as you choose the right purifier.
Choosing an Effective Product
The best models attach to your drinking water faucets, but the dual filtration cartridges sit on the kitchen sink. The small fully enclosed models, like PUR, are not the most effective and they have a very short life span. To avoid frequent replacement and to save money, look for a brand that is good for 500 gallons or about 6 months.
I hope you found these drinking water safety facts helpful. Home purified is the right solution for everyone.
