Pure water are essential for us in these times of pollution and contamination of our water supplies. Reverse osmosis systems are well known for their ability to reduce lead to below the federal action level. However, if the lead in your water exceeds the federal action level, you should complain to the public utility of your community. The government is obliged to take proper steps to reduce the amount of lead in your water. Too much lead in your system can lead to chronic health problems in the elderly as well as liver problems, high blood pressure, heart disease and dementia.

Reverse osmosis are excellent for industrial usage. However, reverse osmosis pure water systems are not well suited for residential use. They raise your electricity bills, create many gallons of waste water per gallon of usable water. Reverse osmosis require the installation of a separate drain and they break down without you being aware of it. Another downfall of reverse osmosis pure water systems is that they are much more expensive than multi-stage selective filtration devices. The multi-stage filtration devices are actually more effective providing more than one way to filter your water. Reverse systems for residential areas are less complicated versions of the systems that treat rivers and lakes in rural areas.

It is a good idea to shop around for different options for your own before choosing one way to filter your house water. There is no substitute for a smart consumer and there are many options for pure water systems to make your life a happier and healthier one.
